Part 01 of 08 · Food & farming

Agriculture and rural prosperity

Good food. A fair living.

Help farmers grow, keep more of the harvest and get good food to the market.

Conceptual miniature of irrigated fields, a storage shed and a market road with farmers at work

What we will do

Three practical steps

A farmer needs more than seeds: water, working tools, safe storage and a buyer all matter.

  1. Grow
  2. Store safely
  3. Reach buyers
  1. Start with the basics

Repair useful water systems. Make seeds, tools and machinery services easier to obtain.

  2. Keep more of the harvest

Improve storage, cold rooms and routes to market. Protect fish stocks and fishing livelihoods.

  3. Make support fair

Publish who can apply, what help is available and how decisions can be challenged.

Delivery safeguards and conditions

Rehabilitate before announcing

Irrigation projects ranked by technical viability, salinity, water, demand and running cost. A usable scheme is repaired before a new one is announced.

Inputs on a published calendar

Seed, fertiliser and veterinary support follow seasonal calendars, with disclosed eligibility, supplier contracts and a complaints route.

Fisheries in the open

Publish commercial fishing licences and key agreement terms where lawful, and strengthen monitoring against illegal fishing.

Land rights protected

Fair access for legitimate users, including women producers, with notice, consultation and appeal. No secret allocation of community land.

How to judge progress

Check the result

  • Are supported water systems working?
  • Is less food being lost?
  • Are farmers paid on time?
